GREEN TEA ICE CREAM
you will need:
2q frozen yogurt & ice cream maker (I use Cuisinart)
2 cups half and half
1/2 cup sugar
5 tablespoons green tea powder ( Also known as Matcha-available at Wild by Nature)
pinch of salt
Step 1:
Freeze the freezer bowl for at least 24 hours.
Step 2:
In a small saucepan, heat the half and half, sugar and salt while whisking constantly. Sift in the green tea powder and stir until the mixture starts to foam and is hot to the touch but not boiling.
Step 3:
Remove the mixture from the stove top and let sit over an ice bath. When the mixture is cooled, cover with saran wrap and refrigerate 2-3 hours.
Step 4:
Once the mixture is chilled, pour into a pre-chilled ice cream maker and churn for at least 25 minutes until the mixture begins to thicken. Transfer to an airtight container and let freeze an additional 2-3 hours in the freezer.
Enjoy!
