Today was a beautiful day and I knew I wanted to cook something fresh and delicious when I got home from work. I recently picked up a family size package of grass fed skirt steak for only $5.97 per pound The entire package contained 4 large piece which I easily portioned into 4 meals. Each piece could serve about 2 people sliced up and served with some sides.
The first thing I did was make a spice blend to put on the meat. I used Himalayan sea salt, umami seasoning from trader joes, black pepper, and gourmet pepper blend. I mixed it in a bowl and sprinkled on the top.
I then added a mix of scallions, garlic, ginger, and small chopped peppers. I added Korean BBQ Bulgogi Marinade that I got from my local Korean market. One jar of marinade was enough for all 4 portions of meat that I divided into Ziploc freezer bags.
I cooked the meat stove top and served with a size of kimchi rice and extra marinade fro dipping. You can top with chopped scallions and sesame seeds for garnish.
This meal is a great way to add Asian flavors to your boring weeknight meals. Each portion of meal cost $4 which equaled about 2 servings sliced served with kimchi rice. You can also serve this with white rice, noodles or sauteed cabbage if you dont have the kimchi rice on hand.
I am impressed. The recipe looks simple and is economical. I bet it is delicious.
